School Arts

At St. Dominic’s, we challenge our students to develop life-long skills such as critical thinking, clarity in written and spoken expression, collaboration, and creativity. These skills can all be developed through the arts. Our vibrant and energetic Arts programme plays an important part in school life.

Our students are regularly encouraged to showcase their talents at school assemblies and special events. Each year, both Junior and Senior school present musicals and plays for family, friends and the general public.

In Drama, we organize theatre trips and visits to other International School’s theatres as well as trips to the Lisbon Players Theatre Company and events at the Centro Cultural de Belém and Teatro Nacional D. Maria II.

Visual Arts students often participate in a variety of out of school workshops which helps the development of their artistic techniques and ultimately enhances their portfolios.  Students are encouraged to visit area museums to explore the work of master artists as well as appreciate the rich artistic heritage of the region.

Our Music students regularly take part in Jazz Concerts and IB Diploma Concerts at the other International schools in the area. This brings the International School community together and allows for students to meet each other, play music together and share best practice and talent.
